Tillou of the CPA firm of Smith, Elliottt, Kearns and Company, LLC, will present an educational workshop to assist you in understanding and filing your 2011 State and Federal tax returns. This workshop is ideal for new small businesses as well as those seriously considering starting a business of their own. Topics will include:
 
Business Tax Requirements: business tax returns, record keeping, basic financial statements and accounting methods
 
Business Use of Your Home: deducting expenses of your home used for business, eligibility test for taking an office-in-the-home deduction, and where to claim it on your tax form
 
Form 941 (Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return) and form 940 (Employer's Annual Unemployment Tax Return).
 
Employment Taxes: basic handling of the withholding of employment taxes such as Federal Income Tax, Social Security and Medicare
